Personal Home Theater Space
I was trolling the web yesterday and came across one of the ultimate geek purchases. You see, I had recently stopped by to visit a friend in Orlando while on a business trip, and of course, once we finished lunch at the mall, we stopped by the electronics and entertainment stores to convince ourselves, that ‘really, a 70″ HD-1080 screen isn’t THAT expensive when you consider the benefits’. Come now, haven’t you considered the investment in your eyesight? When you compare it to Lasik for you and the missus, it’s almost a breakeven!
Home theaters are all the rave. Unfortunately, I live in New York, and for every square foot I consume, I’ll pay another 2$ a year in taxes, so a home theater would be a little exorbitant for me. That being said, I’m working the plan… ;-P

For those of you with your man-cave (or whatever you call that area of the house that no one else dares invade), I stumbled upon the thing you’ve got to see. A chair.
No, not one of those (no massage, no funky positions, no double-entendre). This one lets you build a personal home theater space all to your self. Hike one of these babies in a corner of the man-cave and a screen anywhere opposite, and you’ve got solitude and style (albeit a 60’s flashback sort of style). However, to get one, it appears that you need to speak German, at least until someone gets a clue about the web’s ‘cross-borderness’.
Men crave a certain degree of solitude. It is part of our inherent nature. We also want to be uniquely cool. I’m not sure if that’s nature or nurture, but it seems pretty enduring through the ages and across cultures, so I’ll lean on the nature side on that too. However, what is NOT natural, is when we wrap ourselves up so much in being THE guy, that we can’t be “a guy”. The man-cave / fortress of solitude is needful to get a sense of perspective, and to get “cool”. What makes it all the better, is when it’s not just a piled up corner in the basement, or a begrudging space in the garage; but when it’s truly a fun place to go.
Here’s to little boys who like grown up toys!
